How to make up missing assignments
Annotations:
- show annotations to Ms. Cooney. If you were absent and show the annotations within two days then you earn full credit. If you were absent and wait more than 2 days or you were present but did not annotate, you may show them to Ms. Cooney for half-credit. (Exorbitantly late work will not receive any credit.)
Reading Opportunities (Quizzes)
- If absent the day of the opportunity then there is nothing to be done. The grade is blank in the grade book neither hurting nor helping your grade.
- If you fail the reading opportunity, regardless of annotations, you will have a missing assignment. That missing assignment will cease to be a missing assignment if you write a 1- 2 page MLA format (assignment must be in the header) paper articulating the main points and essential facets of the reading. This will not earn credit but will eliminate the missing assignment.
Remember! If you read, annotate and take half a page of good notes for every reading, you will not have any missing assignments!

NOTICE!! Due May 1 The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer
Please make sure that you purchase the Penguin Classic version Translated by Nevill Coghill with the ISBN: 978-0-14-042438-6. This is important as we do not want your student to purchase a version in Middle English as it will be difficult for him/her to read and the pagination will be different.
Below are two links that should get you to the right copies. A used copy is about $4 at ABEbooks with free shipping. A new one from Amazon will be about $9.
